The Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Thursday requested Rahul Gandhi to initiate a second ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ this time traversing from east to west, according to Congress MP KC Venugopal.
“In the CWC meeting, the Congress president initially told Rahul Gandhi that he’s getting massive opinions from the party workers and leaders from all over India that Rahul Gandhi should do a second Yatra from east to west. After that, all the CWC members unanimously also requested Rahul Gandhi to do the Yatra,” Venugopal said.
The Congress MP assured that the details and logistics of the yatra, along with the final decision, would be taken without any delay. He also addressed inquiries about potential alliances with INDIA bloc allies at the state level, revealing the formation of an alliance committee tasked with discussing and determining collaboration mechanisms.
“The mood of the country now is against BJP…We are very much convinced that Congress and INDIA alliance is going to fight against this dictatorship and rule,” Venugopal added.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra’s first iteration, led by Rahul Gandhi, commenced in Kanyakumari on September 7 and concluded on January 30 in Srinagar, covering 3,970 km, spanning 12 states and two Union territories over 130 days.
The impact of Rahul Gandhi’s inaugural yatra was visible during subsequent polls in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, where the Congress recorded a substantial increase in strike rate and vote share.
In Karnataka, the yatra covered 511 km over 22 days between Gundlupet constituency and Raichur Rural constituency.
