Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar to visit Moscow! Dates not confirmed yet: MEA

Dates for the possible visit of External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar to Moscow have not been decided yet. In a weekly media briefing on Thursday, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi said that the discussions are underway on a possible visit to Russia.

In response to a question whether the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission meeting and Jaishankar’s visit to Moscow are planned, Bagchi said that the discussions are going on and that there was no confirmed information to be shared.

Multiple organized mechanisms are in place to facilitate economic collaboration between India and Russia, with the primary government-level institution being the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC), as outlined by a statement from the Indian Embassy in Moscow.

In September, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted the enduring nature of India-Russia ties, characterizing them as “exceptional and steady.”

Speaking at Hudson University, Jaishankar highlighted the resilience of these ties compared to the fluctuating relationships Moscow has experienced with the West. Reflecting on seven decades of international relations, Jaishankar pointed out the volatility in major relationships, such as US-Russian, China-Russia, and US-China. In comparison, he noted that India-Russia relations, while not flashy, have maintained consistent stability.

Jaishankar underlined that these ties have not undergone the highs and lows witnessed in Moscow’s associations with China, the US, or Europe, considering it a testament to their enduring nature.
