India weather update: IMD predicts snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, rainfall in THESE southern states – Check full forecast here

The forecast provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates the likelihood of rain in various states and dense fog in some. Rainfall is anticipated in the Delhi-NCR vicinity today.

Snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir; Rainfall in Southern states

In its December 23 press release, the IMD said light to moderate rainfall at isolated locations in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, and the Lakshadweep area is anticipated over the next five days.

Dense Fog in Punjab, Haryana, Assam, Meghalaya

Dense to very dense fog is expected in the morning hours at isolated pockets in Punjab over the next few days. Dense fog conditions are likely in the morning hours at isolated pockets in Haryana on December 24 and 25, in northwest Rajasthan on December 24, in northwest Uttar Pradesh from December 25 to 27, and in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, and Odisha on December 23 and 24.

Change in minimum temperatures

In Northwest and Central India, a minimum temperature increase of approximately 2°C over the next two days is expected, with no significant change thereafter. For East India, a rise of 2-3°C in minimum temperatures is anticipated over the next three days, followed by no significant change thereafter.

Rainfall around Delhi NCR

As per the predictions by the RWFC New Delhi, light rain or drizzle is expected today in the vicinity of NCR (Greater Noida, Ballabhgarh), as well as in Gohana, Gannaur, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul, Bawal, Nuh, Aurangabad, Hodal (Haryana), Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Shikarpur, Khurja, Pahasu, and Gabhana.

It also said that light rain or drizzle is expected in and around isolated locations in Delhi (Jafarpur, Najafgarh, Mehrauli, Chhattarpur, IGNOU, Ayanagar, Deramandi), NCR (Gurugram), Panipat, Hansi, and Siwani.

The maximum temperature in New Delhi today is expected to be 23 degree Celsius, while the minimum the city could hit is 9 degree Celsius. At the time of writing this report, New Delhi’s temperature was hovering around 11 degree Celsius.

The RWFC said that New Delhi will be having partly cloudy skies today.

Over the next few days, New Delhi’s minimum temperature is expected to be in the range of 7-9 degree Celsius.
