Seven prominent airlines, including Alliance Air, SpiceJet, IndiGo, and Emirates, have collectively accrued pending dues exceeding Rs 95 crore to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), as revealed by government sources. The data, presented in the Rajya Sabha, specifically addresses outstanding amounts greater than Rs 1 crore that have remained unpaid for over a year as of November 30, 2023.
Domestic Carriers’ Dues
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, in a written reply, disclosed that among domestic carriers, Alliance Air, SpiceJet, and IndiGo jointly owe Rs 86.89 crore to AAI. Notably, Alliance Air leads with the highest dues at Rs 83.38 crore, followed by SpiceJet (Rs 2.13 crore) and IndiGo (Rs 1.38 crore).
Specifics on Dues and Exclusions
The provided data underscores that no dues exceeding Rs 10 lakh have been reported from any now-defunct airlines to AAI since 2021, as confirmed by Minister Scindia.
